Several years ago, after experiencing life-changing events that rocked my entire world, I started a journey in search of understanding and healing. While on that journey, I started a blog called, Lessons From The Waiting Room.
The idea behind that blog was that there were certain events I believed were necessary for my life to truly begin – becoming a mother, more specifically. The more that I wrestled with why this was not happening for me, the more I grew to understand that the majority of us are all in the “waiting room of life” waiting for something. The purpose for that blog became to not only be a therapeutic outlet for me, but also to let others in the waiting room know that they were not alone and it is okay to struggle with it.
Fast-forward several years, I have been in personal counseling for about 5 years, I finished my master’s degree in mental health counseling, and I have experienced indescribable growth and healing – both of which continue to take place. I wanted to start a new venture to provide hope, help, and encouragement through what I have learned from academics, further study, and personal experience.

Why the Oasis though?
In thinking of what I wanted this venture to be about, I thought about what my own personal journey with counseling has given me, what I believe mental health counseling should entail, and what I strive to bring to every therapeutic relationship. I wanted one beautiful word that captures the essence of my experience.
Then, one day, it came to me when I was in the shower (the place where all inspirational content comes to me) and the word “oasis” came to my mind. To me, that word described relief. After looking more into what the word means, it became more evident that this was the word I was looking for. The oasis is a temporary sanctuary in a desolate place where travelers can release their burdens, relax for a time, and rejuvenate for the next stretch of the journey. It gives the traveler hope to continue on the journey towards their ultimate destination.
This is what I want The Oasis of Hope to be for you and me. I want to provide encouragement, resources, and different perspectives on life to make the journey just a little more bearable. I believe we are all just passing through and we all carry stories we are meant to share.
Welcome to The Oasis of Hope!
