Kim is a fellow sojourner in the “wasteland” who has found a few life-changing oases on her journey.
In her previous blog, Lessons From The Waiting Room, Kim searched for meaning and healing in the waiting room of life after experiencing life events that left her perplexed and disillusioned.
It was only after wrestling with how her faith stood the test of reality and starting her own personal mental health journey with a professional counselor, that she experienced the freedom to leave the waiting room behind and truly begin to live.
A large part of Kim’s freedom came when she began a new professional journey to become a mental health counselor to help others experience the same healing she experienced with the help of a professional counselor.
She finished her master’s degree in mental health counseling in May of 2023 and has been working full-time as a counselor with individuals of all demographics and has the following credentials:
- Licensed graduate professional counselor (LGPC) in Maryland
- National Certified Counselor™ through the National Board for Certified Counselors
- Trust-Based Relational Intervention Practitioner® through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development
- Certified SYMBIS (Save Your Marriage Before It Starts) Assessment facilitator.
She has a thirst for learning more about how to help others and seeks out additional education on evidenced-based practices to apply to her work with others.
Kim cherishes time spent with family, friends, and her puppy, Toby. She loves music, watching documentaries and docuseries, and true crime television. Most of all, she loves to see how her own struggles and pain can be used to bring hope, healing, and encouragement to others on their personal journey through the wasteland.
